Note from the composer, Steven Franklin about Bagatelle for Horn and Piano:
“This little recital piece was commissioned by Eric Huckins. A Bagatelle is essentially a short, unpretentious instrumental composition. That definition provides the performer with all the necessary information as to how it should be played: simple, flowing, and unpretentious. There are two basic moods created within this piece and they should be in stark contrast to one another.”
Eric Huckins premiered Bagatelle on his graduation recital at The Juilliard School in New York City and still enjoys playing this piece on his recitals regularly.
While Bagatelle for Horn and Piano is a perfect recital piece for professionals, we highly recommended this piece for students as well. For students, Bagatelle is a great transition between the easy and more advanced repertoires. because it includes appropriate technical and musical features that a student should be comfortable executing.
The piece is 6 minutes long, full of melodic lines, and really chop friendly. A perfect choice if you are looking to update your music library, and if you want to bring something new and beautiful to your audience. You will love performing Bagatelle!
